Optimizing Cutting Conditions for Machine Tools
G-TECH Insights Newsletter: 2015-09-30
G-TECH Insights, in its latest newsletter edition, announces incorporating Shop Pro into its impaq Elite portable spectrum vibration analyzer to achieve optimization in cutting conditions for machine tools. We are also proud to announce our release of the new online monitoring module or vibration monitoring system, VimoNet X1. Lastly, we discuss WR's acceleration sensors for machine tool vibration monitoring.
Optimizing Cutting Conditions for Machine Tools Which Can Increase Productivity by at Least 20%

Shop-Pro, a cutting vibration analysis software developed by Professor Altintas' team at the University of British Columbia, Canada, is now integrated into the impaq Elite portable spectrum analyzer. Through a simple bearing and tool stiffness (FRF) test, Shop-Pro software can accurately predict the cutting stability graph and speed information of tremors. It can also recommend the optimal cutting speed, maximum cutting depth and width, and the required torque and power, helping the tool user to quickly adjust the machine to the best cutting conditions. This can improve productivity by at least 20% and even 50% in some cases.
G-TECH Released New Online Monitoring Module

G-TECH officially released a new online monitoring module VimoNet X1, which can be used as a front-end module for online monitoring through a network connection or as a standalone data measurement and storage device without a network connection. With its built-in high-speed DSP computing chip, storage memory, network connectivity, and Relay output, VimoNet is powerful enough to be used in a variety of monitoring system implementations.
This new product is currently being used in a variety of applications, such as tool cutting condition monitoring, seismic signal measurement, and machine condition monitoring and protection systems as a predictive maintenance system.
Acceleration Sensor for Machine Tool Vibration Monitoring

WR provides acceleration gauges of various sizes for spindle vibration monitoring, which can be installed on the spindle head or inside the spindle. The bandwidth can be up to 10kHz, and the sensitivity range is 25 mV/g, 50mV/g, and 100mV/g, which is convenient for real-time monitoring of high-frequency vibration caused by spindle bearing damage, spindle or tool handle unbalance, and cutting vibration or crashes caused by improper cutting conditions. All signal connectors, signal cables and acceleration gauges can achieve IP66 or higher protection levels.
