G-TECH Insights Newsletter: 2015-12-31

This latest edition of the G-TECH Insights Newsletter is proud to announce the launch of our new website. We also look at the standard for the vibration measurement of a machine tool spindle, as well as examining the crest factor for the characteristic signal of bearing damage.

G-TECH's New Website Is Now Online

To provide you with better information and services, the new G-TECH website will be running in 2016. You are welcome to visit and give us your feedback. We value your opinions. This website will be updated from time to time to provide you with the latest information. All of us at G-TECH would like to wish you a happy new year.

Standard for vibration measurement of machine tool spindle

ISO 17243-1 specifies the standard for the vibration of machine tool spindles. This standard applies to spindles with ball and roller bearings within the speed range of 600 rpm to 30,000 rpm. We have prepared the following diagram for this specification:

The Peak Factor of the Vibration Characteristic Signal of Bearing Damage: Crest Factor

In the bearing vibration condition monitoring period, the bearing vibration peak factor (crest factor) can be quite effective in evaluating the damage trends for bearing health conditions. As the bearing damage increases, bearing vibration signal rms ratio (peak factor) start to become larger. As the bearing damage continues to deteriorate, the peak factor will also gradually become larger.
